Le Petit Pigeon
In the Provence, 40 km at west of Avignon, a small villa 'Le Petit Pigeon' is situated in a lovely
setting amongst the vineyards and orchards area of the village Fontarèches. There are terraces
in the shade of pine and oak trees and the surroundings are ideal for lovers of nature, who wants
to escape from the pressure of daily life. Beside the delicious rest, one finds numerous activities.
Property Information
The house is decorated and furnished in Provençal colors with original artwork and great attention
to detail. It has a living/dining room with a large dining table and chairs and french windows to
a covered terrace. Equipped kitchen with furnace, refrigerator and gas burner with two plates.
Ground floor: bed 1, double bed of 140x200, ensuite shower/WC. Stairs to 1st floor: bed 2,
double bed of 160x200 and a round dining table for two. There is satellite TV and use of an
Internet connection (take with you your own laptop). A driveway gives access to an own
territory of 1600 m2. with the possibility to park your car.
The surrounding
Not far away from the roman aquaduct Le Pont du Gard (30 km), lies Fontarèches.
A small, characteristic village near Orange (theatre), Nîmes (arena), Avignon (Palais des Papes,
Pont Benezet), but also Arles (van Gogh) and Aix-en Provence (a bit more than one hour drive).
Through the Camargue, with its fascinating birds, you find Mediterranean beaches with excellent
sea fish-restaurants in Le Grau-du-Roi or in the old walled city Aigues-Mortes. It is great
shopping in the nearby located charming city Uzès (12 km), in the wide area well-known for
its attractive, provincial Saturday market and where you can visit numerous cafés and restaurants.
Saint Quentin la Poterie, a famous village for its ceramists, gives you the opportunity to meet
designers of ceramic in their own atelier. At only 400 mtr distance you'll find a cooperation
where you can buy delicious country wines against very low prices. And if you want fresh
croissants for breakfast, it takes only a few minutes to come at the bakery in the near village
Saint Laurent la Vernède. Click on the link of Google Maps.
Activities
You can have a swim in the nearby river the Cèze or canoe in the river the Gardon. Both rivers
are approximately 30 minutes drive. Take a bike-tour through the vast Garrigue or have a good
walk to enjoy the numerous vineyards in the close neighborhood.
There are numerous other activities in the Gard like: fishing, visiting caves, examine Romanesque
churches, a walk in a bamboo forest, the many (antiques) markets, playing golf and of course
tasting the local wines.
For Who ?
You can reserve for three to four persons. Pets are welcome, but in consultation.
Because of the position of the stone terrace, this accommodation is less suitable for little children.
The costs ?
The rental price is minimum € 55,00 and maximum € 90,00 a day, depending on the season.
The low season is from november up to and including april (€ 55,00 / € 385,00 a week)
The mid season is in may, june, september and october (€ 75,00 / € 525,00 a week)
The high season is in july and august (€ 90,00 / € 630,00 a week)
Bed coverlets and kitchen towels are available. You are, however, only requested to take along
bath towels. You can do the cleaning yourselves or you can pay to the cleaner € 30,00.
If you use the electric heating in low season there is an extra pay of € 30,00 a week.
Additional information
The holiday house is located almost at the end of a side street. There are local people living
in the environment, as well as people from England, Germany and Belgium. A contact person
can be of assistance to you as he can speak french and english.
Reservation
You are free to choose any date, provided that it's not yet reserved and for minimum a week.
We prefer however to keep Saturday as a day of leave or arrival. See the Reservation Form.
After you have filled in the Reservation Form and mailed it to us, you will receive a confirmation
and a route description to the address of your holiday home. Click here to find your exact route.
After a booking 30% of the total amount will be asked within ten days as a deposit. The rest
amount is to be received at the latest 5 weeks before your stay.
You need to arrange your own annulment- and/or travel insurance.
